European Service Network (ESN)

European Service Network (ESN) is a Brussels-based communications agency serving major European institutions, national authorities and corporate clients in diverse sectors. ESN’s experienced, multilingual team pays careful attention to planning and management to ensure that our clients’ messages reach their target on time, every time.

Here is the ESN team behind Citzalia.

Koenraad Tommissen

Managing Director

They were looking for a manager, and found me, almost the only BC (Before Computer) in the company. I am enthusiastic without understanding much about the techniques and marketing tools used. I simply want to help enable people to communicate about the European Parliament through a tool developed by ESN.

Erwan Martin

Project manager

Born in Bretagne, little Erwan dreamed of a career in the traditional ship-wrecking craft industry. In the end, he enrolled in the communication sector where the end and the means are usually quite similar. Erwan’s passions include gardening, EU institutional affairs and World War II, literature, comics and video games, Bordeaux wines, Belgian beers, shellfish and pizza – if you look carefully you should find evidence of all those in the concepts behind Citzalia.

Michael Fallise

Senior Developer-Analyst

Michael started to write his first lines of code at the age of 13, frustrated by having so few good games on his PC XT. Since then he has not stopped programming applications and over the last decade has specialised in web technologies. He can be recommended for the creation of original concepts and Flash development, as well as working with Nicolas on architecturing IT platforms. Be warned: he gets grumpy when there is too much blood in his caffeine system …

Grégory de Latre du Bosqueau

Graphic Designer/Art Director

Gregory has 10 years’ experience in the print department and has recently been working on web products, too. His role is the overall design of the Citzalia project. Because he is the person doing all the drawings, he has made himself look good and the others much less so, just so that he can stand out from the crowd a bit more!

Nicolas Stein

Senior Developer-Analyst

Nicolas is a senior geek who loves ‘architecturing’ large technical projects and deploying innovative designs to meet complicated technical challenges. He is connected to the open-source community and comes equipped with a four-wheel drive for off-road projects. Powered by green tea, he performs best when fed with good music and placed in the middle of a dynamic and humorous team.

Richard Cop

Senior Flash Developer

When I was young, three avenues were open to me: graphics, sports, computers … I made a big decision to quit sport and decided to devote myself to an improbable quest: to transform the pixel square into a circle. This challenge prompted me to explore the limits of combining design and development. After 10 years’ experience in the field, I have still not reached my goal but I do not despair! My role in Citzalia involves sharing my knowledge of the pixel with the rest of the world – well rounded.

Joel Devalez

Project Manager/Dissemination expert

Joel fell into the web 12 years ago. Since then, he has held several positions in web agencies and large companies – as a web designer, project manager and consultant in usability and e-marketing. His role in the Citzalia project includes promoting, advising and making bad puns during meetings … which he enjoys…

Paolo Malloggi

Project Manager

Paolo has an academic background plus 15 years of experience in information design and architecture. His natural understanding of the intuitive and fluid nature of architecture and his interest in technology has quickly led him to specialise in online media development. He has developed online tools and products for a number of private companies and their different target audiences.

Yannis Pouliovalis

Senior Networking Manager

Yannis has worked in project management and networking for the past 14 years. He brings to Citzalia his enthusiasm in networking with nice people from different countries and cultures. He will coordinate the networking activities of the project with several organisations in the EU-27 such as the European Parliament Information Offices and the EC Representation Offices, hoping to make lots of friends as he goes.

Ahmed ElAmin

Senior Editor

I write and edit the text and information, while also contributing to the team’s strategy for Citzalia. For fun, I like to step on toes, dot my “T’s”, and cross my “I’s” …

Siggy Loenders

Developer

The urban legend goes that when Siggy was born he was carrying a computer in one hand and a coffee cup in the other. While growing up, Siggy always had a great interest in computer-related technology. It started with playing games and reading books and evolved into developing and analysing applications/projects. A couple of years ago he came into contact with the Python language, and started his main development using it “driven by lots of enthusiasm” and coffee.

Thomas Libert

Developer/Web designer

Thomas has a degree in graphic design [web-oriented]. Like all geeks, he realised that coding allows for deep creativity so he joined the web development team. Unfortunately, Thomas has a few addictions: communication, alternative music, and the “café central”. When he is not coding at ESN, he animates a local radio station and is involved in several musical activities across Belgium.
